There are many great and creative Halloween costumes for couples that can draw a lot of attention from others. There are hundreds, and possibly thousands, of choices out there, and it can be difficult to figure out the best matching pair. Hopefully, with some direction and ideas, finding the perfect costumes will not seem too overwhelming, and the night of Halloween can be silly and fun for the matching couple.

Use Creativity

If ordinary Halloween costumes are not wanted, it's time to get a little bit creative. The traditional 'Frankenstein and Wife of Frankenstein" costumes can look great, but most people have already seen them. The same is true for the "Priest and Pregnant Nun" and the "Ketchup and Mustard" costumes. Some of the more original Halloween costumes for couples include:

If the above list of costume pairs does not spur any sort of excitement, there are always many other non-traditional Halloween costumes for couples that can either be purchased at a local or internet-based costume stores (such as Halloween Mart or BuyCostumes.com), or made by hand at home. Any corresponding characters from television shows or a movie can be transformed into great Halloween costumes. Other types of non-traditional Halloween costumes include those that are very creative and may not be readily recognizable by others. For example, a couple may want to dress as a bottle of beer and a football player. A first glance, some may not see how the two costumes are at all related. When this happens, the couple will have to repeatedly explain how the two costumes go together. Some may want to choose matching costumes that are hard to decipher, and others will want to choose costumes that are easy to understand.

Difficulty Agreeing on Costumes

It's inevitable that there will be conflict when deciding what pair of costumes will be worn on Halloween. Often, one member of the couple will make an outrageous choice of costumes and the other person will immediately reject the idea. This sort of disagreement is common, and can lead to some heated discussions on what costumes will actually be worn on Halloween. Some men (and women!) are not willing to wear outfits that are too silly or "cute". Knowing this, it's important not to overreact to your parnter's ideas and to work together to find a Halloween theme you can both enjoy. Remember, Halloween is about having fun and assuming new identities for just one night.

Choose Costumes Based on Hobbies

One way to figure out the perfect Halloween costumes for a couple is to determine what types of activities or hobbies you enjoy doing together. Then, the Halloween costumes can be based on those common interests.

Some examples of Halloween costumes based on hobbies are:

For a couple who enjoys the outdoors: A park ranger and a hiker
For a couple who enjoys the beach: A lifeguard and a shark
For a couple who enjoys traveling: A pilot and a flight attendant
For a couple who enjoys eating in restaurants: A chef and a waitress

Costumes based on hobbies that the couple enjoys will be viewed by others as very unique and creative. The best part about this sort of costume is that neither member of the couple will be opposed to the attire!
